Film Review - Argo

Review for a College Magazine

So when you first hear the basic outline of Argo and realise that; yes, some parts of the film have political involvement, this is when some people label the film as dull and are done with it. But, i assure you Argo is far from dull. As you follow the story of 6 American Hostages, who were taken prisoner by Iran in the middle of a revolutionary war in 1979, and their attempt at a 'Great Escape' . Back in the USA the CIA are trying to hatch a plan to rescue the fugitives but the best idea they can come up with is to send them bikes and a map and hope for the best.

This is when our lead man played by Ben Affleck comes up with a strange but daring alternative. With some risky decisions he is plunged face first into Iran, alone, as he has to fool the whole of the Iranian revolution into believing their cover story. I'm not going to let on too much because its a film i highly recommend and one i think most people will enjoy. That is obviously if you go into it with an open mind.

The use of real footage in the film will totally capture you and reel you in. It makes you feel although, set in the 70's, that your actually part of it.

Its dramatic and tense and will have you on the edge of your seat. With a mismatch of celebrities, some hilarious scenes and incredible acting Argo is definitely a film that blows the smoke out of the water for me. And if you don't like it... then Argo-fuck-yourself.
