The Oscars 2013 come to a close and we say goodbye to a night full of
speeches, songs and slips. The usually classy night was brought down a peg or
two with their unusual choice of host, Seth Macfarlane.
The Family Guy actor definitely livened things up with his risky skits
and dangerous song about the female chest. But perhaps this is what the classic
event needed. Over the 85 years that The Oscars have been awarding this was by
far their most modern adaptation. They took a gamble and I'm pretty sure it
paid off.
Through out the night there was laughter and joy. The Red Carpet was
divulged in designer gowns and suits, as always, but not without its fair share
of fashion disasters. The American hosts paid tribute to Adele's glorious British
voice and over all the atmosphere seemed merry.
The awards won that night were as follows.
• Best Actress - Jennifer Lawrence for The Silver Linings Playbook
• Best Actor - Daniel Day Lewis for Lincoln
• Best Supporting Actress - Anne Hathaway for Les Miserables
• Best Supporting Actor - Christopher Waltz for Django Unchained
• Best Picture - Argo, Directed by Ben Affleck
The young Jennifer Lawrence made history to be the youngest actress to
snap up the award for Best Actress. The 22 year old who broke through into the
industry with the lead role in The Hunger Games was unfortunate enough to trip
on her designer gown as she made her way up to the stage. Not without the help
of the dashing Hugh Jackman and Co-star Bradley Cooper coming to her rescue.
When she finally made it to the podium she was rewarded with a standing
ovation.
